Le triomphe de l’ataraxie

Marxisme et vie extra-terrestre : Qu’en penser ? Le théoricien et militant trotskyste argentin Juan Posadas (1912-1981) s’est confronté à cette apparemment oisive question. Pour lui, la vie extra-terrestre et donc l’arrivée d'une civilisation franchement supérieure étant plausibles, il est logique de penser que cette espèce se situe historiquement bien au-delà d’un stade d’organisation sociale capitaliste, c’est-à-dire qu’elle soit communiste. Posadas envisage alors une révolution mondiale concertée par le biais d’un premier contact. Le projet Le triomphe de l’ataraxie développe l’hypothèse fictionnelle de cet événement à venir par l’intermédiaire de peintures, explorant un monde en pleine bascule.

1. La fresque réal-socialiste Le triomphe de l’ataraxie célèbre la fraternisation avec divers types d’extra-terrestres, esquisse une énigmatique ambassade Alien ainsi que la co-présence des clones et des dauphins, nouvelles formes de vie et d’intelligence toutes à égalité, et désormais vivant toutes à l’abri de la violence des nécessités matérielles, et ce grâce aux apports des nouveaux arrivants.

2. Polyptyque Le triomphe de l’ataraxie .
- a. Slogan posadiste « Les blagues sont inutiles sous le socialisme » soulignant le dépassement du besoin d'humour comme forme de prise de recul à l’égard d’un monde autrefois imparfait.
- b. Plan d’ambassade, complexe volume architectural paradigmatique des nouvelles conditions d’existence, paradisiaques et par-là éprouvant les limites cognitives de notre imagination.
- c. Vision d’un cimetière de baleines, et Vision de François d’Assise lisant Marx aux oiseaux – ces visions mettent en images l’accumulation de points de vue sur des phénomènes eux-mêmes à la limite de l’entendement humain actuel. Promesse d’une nouvelle forme de perception du monde.

3. Le fichier est illisible, sculpture. Volume évoquant une vaine tentative contre-révolutionnaire consistant à stocker pour envoyer dans l’espace la somme des archives, le souvenir réactionnaire et mélancolique d’une humanité authentiquement imparfaite d’avant le premier contact

The triumph of ataraxia

Marxism and extraterrestrial life: what do we think? The Argentine Trotskyist theorist and activist Juan Posadas (1912-1981) confronted this apparently idle question. In his view, since extraterrestrial life and the arrival of a truly superior civilisation are plausible, it is logical to think that this species is historically well beyond a stage of capitalist social organisation, i.e. that it is communist. Posadas therefore envisages a concerted world revolution through first contact. The project The Triumph of Ataraxia develops the fictional hypothesis of this coming event through paintings, exploring a world in the midst of change.

1. The socialist-realist fresco Le triomphe de l'ataraxie celebrates fraternisation with various types of extraterrestrials, sketches out an enigmatic Alien embassy and the co-presence of clones and dolphins, new forms of life and intelligence all on an equal footing, and now all living free from the violence of material necessities, thanks to the contributions of the new arrivals.

2. Polyptych The triumph of ataraxia - a. Posadist slogan ‘Jokes are useless under socialism’, highlighting the need for humour as a way of taking a step back from a once imperfect world - b. c. Vision of a whale cemetery, and Vision of Francis of Assisi reading Marx to the birds - these visions put into images the accumulation of points of view on phenomena that are themselves at the limits of current human understanding. Promising a new way of perceiving the world.

3. The file is unreadable, sculpture. A volume evoking a vain counter-revolutionary attempt to store and send into space the sum total of archives, the reactionary and melancholy memory of an authentically imperfect humanity before first contact.
